Sample Press Release #15 A poem and commentary by Kathleen Madrid del Rosario Manuel 11.55 AM 02/08/2022. Who did we wound? ______________________ Who did we wound? We said we would clean up And we did But everytime a fabric, clothing or textile is washed This releases microfibers into the air and sea Polluting the oceans and finding its way into our lungs and even Mt. Everest. Who did we wound? Ourselves and our children and our children’s children and everyone beyond that. We said we would handle garbage But production continues to escalate Things get tossed, there is inventory that did not sell, So we accumulated not only garbage but more and more things. Who did we wound? Ourselves and our children and our children’s children and everyone beyond that. We said love would last And that we won’t give up But irresponsibility is real, adulteries and infidelities happen Marriages are no longer worked on or worked out New children and remarriages arise into blended families The basic unit is not so basic anymore. Who did we wound? Ourselves and our children and our children’s children and everyone beyond that. We said we knew how to run things The economy most of all But why is the debt too high, and where the taxes go isn’t felt by all And we import more, export less, the dollar goes up, our money shrinks Buying less and less of what we did before. Who did we wound? Ourselves and our children and our children’s children and everyone beyond that. We know and we can but sometimes we don’t do it, or we don’t do it till the end So society suffers, the environment is concerning, people have unrest and uncertainty We don’t do the right thing, we don’t do the Catholic thing, we ignore the Bible and each other Because we are all wounded, but then the more we don’t, the more we are wounded more.
